Butterfly birthday cake

Bake a beautiful butterfly cake with an easy recipe!

BUTTERFLY BIRTHDAY PARTY CAKE

INGREDIENTS

Sponge cake:
4 eggs
1,5 dl sugar
1,5 dl flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
- 24 cm (9˝ inch) round cake pan

Between layers and on the top:
˝-1 dl milk or juice
5 dl heavy cream
2 tablespoons sugar
vanilla essence or extract
1 jar strained fruit (baby food, ~130 ml)
1-2 bananas
Cake decorating:
blue food colouring
coloured sweets
(a tall and slender biscuit)

DIRECTIONS:
Bake a sponge cake or use another cake recipe you like.
Sponge cake: Beat eggs and sugar with an electric mixer until pale and thick. Whisk together flour and baking powder in a bowl and add to egg mixture. Mix until smooth. Pour batter into buttered and floured pan. Bake for 30-40 minutes (oven preheated to 180 ° C / 350 ° F) until the cake is golden brown and begins to pull away from the sides of the pan. Let the cake cool completely.

Halve the cake horizontally with a long knife. Moisturize both layers with milk or juice. Beat whipping cream until soft peaks form. Mix in two tablespoons sugar and some vanilla essence or vanilla extract. Spread strained fruit over bottom half of cake and arrange banana slices on it. Spread whipped cream over the other half (the cut side) and place atop (cream against banana slices). Press gently.

Halve the cake vertically and place the halves on plate as wings like you see in the picture.

Spred whipped cream over the cake. Add blue food colouring to the rest of the whipped cream and cover the sides of the butterfly cake with it (using a star nozzle).

Decorate the cake with sweets shortly before serving for some sweets may colour the cream if the cake is left waiting too long.--
